Strategy Objectives

With an over-arching goal to improve the quality of care for people with diabetes, and under the leadership of the Dr. Stewart Harris, Canadian Diabetes Association Chair in Diabetes Management, the TNDMS has the following objectives:

  • To evaluate the impact of innovative care models on diabetes outcomes, especially at the family practice care level

  • To advocate for healthcare policy and healthcare delivery changes

  • To evaluate the uptake and impact of the Canadian Diabetes Association clinical practice guidelines

  • To support the establishment of a provincial diabetes registry and to evaluate key clinical and process measures

  • To evaluate the diabetes registry data in order to identify major clinical care gaps

  • To support the development of training for diabetes healthcare professionals and researchers

  • To establish collaborative research and clinical partnerships with related chronic disease disciplines, such as cardiovascular disease and renal disease
